Thiruvananthapuram, October 9, 2025 – The Implementation Support Mission of the World Bank for the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP) is successfully underway in Thiruvananthapuram, marking a critical review of the project’s progress and strategic direction. The mission, which began on October 8, 2025, and concludes on October 10, 2025, focused on evaluating the achievements and planning future implementation steps across Kerala.

The mission meetings were chaired by Dr. Divya S. Iyer IAS, Project Director, KSWMP, and Dr. K. Harikumar IAS, Deputy Project Director, alongside various project officials. Mr.Zhiyu Jerry Chen, TTL, Ms.Poonam Ahluwalia Khanijo, Mr.Robin Thakur, Ms.Mridula Singh and Ms.Deepa Balakrishnan from the World Bank and Mr.Ankur Agrawal from the AIIB attended the discussions centered on the technical, financial, and institutional aspects of the project. Technical heads from consultancy services were also present.

The three-day mission served as a vital platform for deep operational review, addressing implementation challenges, and aligning project activities with the overall development objectives of the World Bank-supported initiative.

The mission is set to conclude with a high-level wrap-up meeting tomorrow, October 10, 2025, which will be attended by the Special Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Local Self-Government Department (LSGD). The meeting will formalize the findings and agreed-upon actions stemming from the technical discussions held over the preceding days.
